Chiang Mai Trip Day 2

Our day started off at about 8am. My parents and I had a buffet breakfast in the hotel. The food was good and had a lot of varieties, but as usual, I don’t quite eat a lot of breakfast. I usually have my favorite sausage, egg omelet and orange juice. I guess this is what I will eat for the next 3 mornings for breakfast. Quite sad lol. Before we left to go back to our room, my dad asked me to look behind me. I thought it was just normal Thai people because I heard them speaking Thai. I turned to my back and surprise surprise, I saw 2 singhs talking Thailand! My dad was amused and talked to them a little bit. It came to our knowledge that both of them were born in Thailand. LOL amazing~ And they spoke very good English.

Without wasting much time after breakfast, we waited for the free bus shuttle to one of their big shopping malls, the Central Airport Plaza. It took us 15-20 minutes from our hotel. Thank God this driver picked us up from our hotel first because the bus was full with the hotel guests from my hotel!

So yeah, you can imagine how small the “bus” is actually. I believe it can only fit 12 people maximum. Too bad for the others who didn’t have the chance at all to sit in the bus shuttle when pick them up from different hotels on the way.

One thing I admire about Chiang Mai was that they were very very neat and tidy people. See how well they arrange the fruits to kinda like decorate their stores. To get your drink, just select any of the plastic cups that have fruits as shown in the picture and they will get the fruit juice ready for you.

Eating one of their Thai soup noodles in the supermarket. Not sure what’s the name of it. If you see my mum properly, we are actually sitting on a little stool to eat.

Basically this is like their Midvalley. Just not as big as Midvalley. A lot of tourists came here to shop for their stuffs. My dad and I weren’t quite interested with buying clothes or anything. Instead, we went upstairs to check out the IT section on the top floor. The reason I wasn’t interested to shop for clothes because I have more than enough, and I saw a Mac store! But sad, the prices for the Macbook were the same in Machines in Malaysia here.

I walked around more and spotted a couple of iPhone silicone casing which I needed to replace my current one. Saw one of the iPhone silicone casing from Switcheasy and this casing was recommended by iLounge for iPhones. Went to one of the IT shops and found out he was selling at 1100 Baht (RM110) and the lowest he gave was 900 Baht (RM90) as he said the casing actually cost USD$35 (RM122.50). Still RM90 for a casing… madness. Almost bought it though but I told my dad we will walk around abit first to check out the other prices for this silicone casing.

Good thing we did walk around more. We found this shop selling it at 850 Baht (RM85)! Oh wow, okay… my dad was kinda excited because it cheaper. So we asked for the best price he can give. After several discussions in getting the best price, we got it at 750 Baht (RM75). So much cheaper than the other shop!!! Of course, I bought it then :)

I immediately leech one of their unsecured wi-fi to check out the silicone casing whether it was really USD$35. After getting on to iLounge and found out their review on the Switcheasy silicone casing, the actual price they were selling was USD$30 (RM105). Still, it was cheap XD

Apart from that, I bought a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse for notebook in one of the IT store as my laptop mouse which I usually use was spoiled. One thing I’m happy for this laser mouse was because I bought it at a very good price also, only 1190 Baht (RM119). It was indeed really cheap for a laser mouse according to my dad. What more, even their Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse for notebook (1000dpi) was selling at the same price also! So might as well get the laser which was meant to be more expensive. So some stuff was cheap after all.

Ah okay, done with the IT shopping. We headed back to our hotel at about 4pm after doing our shopping.

Our second round of shopping happened after dinner at night. We went to another bazaar this time which was not near to our hotel. It took us about 10-15 minutes walk to this bazaar. One thing special about this bazaar was that it only comes out on Sunday nights.

Another night bazaar with full of people and shops. You remember the first day where we were at the Thae Pae gate? Let me show you …

This was the first day when we were there in the afternoon. But at Sunday night…

The whole place became soooooooooo alive and packed with people! It took us like 2-3 hours to walk around the whole market area. Really huge… But then again, most of their shops were selling the same stuff over and over again. Just whether you can get cheaper price compared to the other shops.

Just like the road in Hong Kong that I went too. Super packed.

This is one of the tribes in Chiang Mai. Doing some dancing performance to attract people and donate some money to them.

Blind people using whatever talents they have left to earn a living.

My parents insisted me to buy this cowboy hat XD

Thai massage can be found almost everywhere in the town. They do have in the markets too and you can see they are having very good business.

We walked back to our hotel after we were done with our shopping in the market.

End of day 2.
